The University
of the Punjab is located in the historical
and culturally active city of Lahore. At
present various on-campus teaching and research
programs of the University are orgnized
under some fifty institutes, departments,
constituent colleges or centres, which run
over one hundred degree, diploma or certificate
programs. Research leading to Ph.D. degree
is an integral part of the academic programs
in many disciplines. New academic programs
have been introduced recently according
to the current requirements. This has gradually
expanded the academic activity of the University.
The University continues to retain its original
teaching as well as examining functions.
In addition to the on-campus teaching and
research activities, the University oversees
and regulates the academic activities of
over 328 affiliated colleges and institutes,
imparting undergraduate, postgraduate and
professional education.
The University of the Punjab has played
a leading role in higher education in the
country. The University strives to provide
a conducive environment for the pursuit
of the academic activities. On account of
its quality degree programs, pleasant environment
and low tuition fees, the University remains

Shah
Abdul Latif University
The Shah Abdul
Latif University (Khairpur) was established
as per University Act in the year 1987. Before
this it was Shah Abdul Latif Campus, University
of Sindh, Jamshoro from 1975 to 1986 for providing
higher educational opportunities to the people
of interior Sindh, in particular, and Pakistan,
in general. The Shah Abdul Latif University
(Khairpur) is located at fertile lands
of 290 acres.
Khairpur District itself, was the Mirs' State
in the British period and divisional headquarter
in Pakistan, has well developed educational
institutions, small date-palm industries,
ginning factories, and textiles.
The University has over 4000 students in various
programs. There are 2500 undergraduate and
1500 graduate students. About 75 % of students
are boys and 25 % girls.
